Southern Eye Bank will call the referring institution back and ask additional questions if needed. If the deceased is a possible candidate, our team will ask if the nurse or designated requestor feels comfortable approaching the family for consent. If they do, great. If they don’t, SEB will be happy to do so.

Sometimes the family of the potential donor wishes to leave. Please get a cell phone number or number where they can be contacted. NEVER assume a family does not want to donate. Families often wish to be surrounded with loved ones during a time of grief or crisis.  It is Southern Eye Bank's responsibility (as well as yours by federal law) to offer the option to each and every potential candidate.
